I say this is a semi-legit point. But one should consider the surrounding world too. And that world is harsh. Only those survive, who strong, independent, smart, self-sufficient, cunning. By forming a group, one may compensate for lack of some qualities.
Gays, and why nobody liked them back then. Simple: procreation was a very important thing for your population to stay competitive. Being gay strongly decreased your value as a group member. That wasn't an issue back then, because one rarely got married by "love". Parents arranged marriage for children, rarely asking about their feels. Soverign could've just give a woman for his vassal to marry. Needs of diplomacy oftenly dictated marriage of nobels.
As for a subject woman, I think she did right for herself. Staying where she was, becoming married could've result in neurosis and other crippling depressions, due to her personality. So she fled to a more comfortable surrounding. And I know, that in real world that would've end miserably, but that's not a real world. It's a damn FAIRY TALE about lesbian halfling, so, everybody, don't even start with this stupid gibberish about "BuT iN tHe MeDiVeL eRa". I'm reading that kind of stuff not for some more reality. > 2)> Queer people make sacrifices to be who they are
Oi boi, what a tragedy. Where I live, average monthly wage is something like 150-200$. Per month, I repeat. Now tell me more about the problems of a people, who makes same amount per week at any imaginable job, because of minimal wage of 8$/h. > you cut ties with your family, lose important social groups, close off career paths, accept that strangers will hate you, etc
West is very tolerable to that kind of people now. But even if not, those things may be made much less harrash, if some flexibility applied. May be little lie, may be hide something in secret. But I highly doubt, that your friends and family will abandon you, if you become respectful human being, and happens to allso be gay.
