She grunts and rolls her shoulders, working the kinks out of her neck. "Not really. Sure as Hell didn't beat my high score." She turns to you, leaning against the cabinet. "You know an awful lot about these games, dude."
"Like, way more than me."
"Well, as you said, I AM a nerd, and I'm a bit of a shut-in, so I have a lot of time to myself." You say, rubbing your hands together. This arcade has some shockingly effective air conditioning. "If I'm not on the internet, then I'm playing games or something."
"Heard that." She says, rocking back on her heels. Her claws drum on the console. "You think this gig with the UAC's gonna pay off?"
You think back on the days you've spent working for the UAC. It occurs to you yet again just how short of a time it's been. You think of Belinda, down in her bunker, working hard in the dim light. You think of Amber, up in her tower, bored and tired. You think of what you shared with them both; Belinda's gentleness, generosity, and her parting kiss, and Amber's exuberance, kindness and infectious smile. You try not to dwell on the mindbending sex for modesty's sake.
You look at Roxanne, your latest companion. Her quirked brow, her cocky little smile, the way her eyes trace your face. You let your eyes wander her body from her head down to her feet.
"Honestly," You say at length. "I think it already has."
"Oooookay?" She says slowly, looking at you sideways. "You zoned out for a minute there."
You shrug your shoulders, giving her what you hope is a disarming smile. "Sorry. It's been a trip."
She looks over you for a second moe before shrugging herself.
"Whatever, man." She steps away from the game, exuding cool detachment. "You want your turn or what?">Yes, I would.>Sure you can't beat your high score?>Let's go play something else.>Let's go talk instead.>UPDATE 2
