OP, I just also noticed that you are in Massachusetts. Even at the dog pound, you will have to pay upwards of 300 dollars for an adoption fee at any humane society from new jersey to Vermont. That is also roughly what you would need to pay for your first year of veterinary visits. You'll also have a running cost of feeding the dog for however long it lives. Unless you want a malnourished dog (and given the breed's size) you'll be spending roughly 80 dollars a month just on feeding it.
Unless you are well aware of how a dog behaves and needs, you're also going to need to pay for basic training for the dog or you're going to have a loud barking, indoor shitting menace that will destroy your parent's backyard and cost more damage than he would prevent, given its size.
Then you have what you've already mentioned with purchasing chain link and so on.
Just in your dog food costs, you are better off paying for a home security system.
I hope you take my post seriously, I am not here to insult you.
I understand where your parents are coming from with intending to get a dog. In most of Latin america, there are many stray dogs and there are not seen in the way that they are in America, as a member of the family that requires care. Which in turn grants the dogs in America, protection by the law from abuse (or anything interpreted as such). There are also hardly any strays in the USA, especially not in New England, where dogs are practically a luxury good.>>2502924
Any pet store, will deal exclusively with purebreed or ''designer'' breed dogs. Practically every dog from a pet store will come with pedigree papers (the club or the merit of said papers being irrelevant for this conversation) which will fetch a higher price.
