Isn't that kinda what the other guy was saying, though? They want them to have more representation that actually matters. EXPAND on these characters that are never given a damn thing to do.
But then, that's sort of the problem with a lot of the supporting cast in the Sonic series. They're given a goal, a personality or what have you for like, a game, maybe two. And then, nothing. Their stories are done, and now they're just sort of there. The Sonic franchise is full of characters that are given next to nothing to do, who can't grow or change or be interesting in any respect past the surface of their personalities. But I guess that's par for the course considering they can't actually expand on even Sonic himself past "he's fast and snarky." Fuck's sake, he was supposedly imprisoned and tortured for 6 months in Sonic Forces, and what's his attitude after being freed? Chipper, jumpy, and ready for anything! Nothing gets him down! Way past cool! Friendship, yeah! I know, he's the mascot of his own series, I get that, but show a moment of vulnerability at least, a brief second of hopelessness.
I'd honestly wonder if a lot of the supporting cast wouldn't be better suited to having their own games. Not just another Sonic game but with them as the fast running protagonist, but actually different genres. Make a more magic-focused game with Blaze and Silver, make a really cute Banjo Kazooie-style adventure with Cream, Cheese and Vanilla, make a genuine mystery game with Chaotix. Etc. Just so SOMETHING with these fucking characters. You have like 20 characters who do next to nothing. Even the Mario series treats its supporting cast better than that.
