This kinda makes me want to try an MRE. An in date one, of course. They seem pretty expensive for individual meals though. Ebay sellers seem to be offering them for $15-$18 each, which looks like a ripoff to me.
Is there anywhere else I can get a single MRE for a decent price, or is that the going rate?

You have to consider the fact that it's a full meal plus snacks and drinks with a dessert item. It's not fast food cheap, but for ~$20 it's not that unrealistic

Just go to theepicenter.com if you're in the U.S. They sell MREs and components at reasonable prices, but their selection isn't always very good. They sell production overruns from contracts so they get what they can.
