Donk and Moped are two characters that I am heavily invested in as far as /ztg/ is concerned, mainly because I have a hand in creating and directing the story around them and who they are as characters, or at least who Donk is. So when someone says "oh I think Donk and Moped are cute together as a couple" my response is "but they are not a couple" and then it escalates from there. I understand that they just find the characters endearing enough to want to have them find happiness in eachother and that's fine for them to think that, but I'm still going to tell them that they are wrong because it's fun to interact with someone like that. I know that they know that I have essentially full control over 'canon' Donk, but it's still a funny because THEY are the ones telling me how he and Moped are, despite this.
I'm explaining the joke to death at this point but that's because I want to be clear when I say that the thought of being able to flip the joke onto those same people, to now counter with "No see, Moped can't be with Donk because Moped is with this OTHER character!" is hilarious. I understand that this then angers those who enjoy bunanon x red, especially since I enjoy that ship as well, but I just don't take shipping like that seriously. If it isn't coming from the same person who is making the characters/story, there's no actual merit to it. Judy is only for Nick and Nick is only for Judy but thats in the context of the movie. Someone can make art of Gazelle x Nick or Judy x Jack and it can be neat, or it can be shitty depending on how it's portrayed. But If Zootopia 2 came out and Jack Savage is there and he rolls in and fucks Judy I will be upsetti spaghetti.
In conclusion I understand your frustration, but you shouldn't take it so seriously, otherwise I will start to feel bad about trying to give those who want moped x donk a 'taste of their own medicine' with moped x bunanon.
