You certainly have a theory but do you have anything to back it up like personal experience or statistics at least something more than a few episodes of The Wonder Years.
In my family that's not what happened at all. My silent generation grandmother was too much of a tomboy to learn from her mother so she had nothing to pass on to my boomer mother. Like most people they knew they were too poor for tv dinners or a tv. They were too expensive. Back then those convenience foods were not as ubiquitous as they are today. Still my mother would make my grandfather his dinner and pack his lunch before his shift.
