I really don't think that is the best method, as it is not possible to perfectly translate what different honorifics mean in a social context. "Onee-chan~~" is not analogous to "yo, big sis". Same thing with reversing name order to Western standards. Yes, a translators job is to assume that the viewer/reader has no understanding of the language, hence needing a translation, but completely subverting and removing any intended meaning just for the sake of complete conversion to a language is idiotic.
I bet you hold the same thoughts regarding puns or wordplay or jokes, just find the closest equivalent. Not go at length to explain "hey this is why this works, here's the significance."
If you're going to consume something in a different language and complain about not even knowing the most basic aspects of it, learn it, don't bastardize the work.
