The show is completely unrealistic, stuff like Bakuman took their time to build a sense of coherent progression throughout the entire series (and even that series is utterly hyperbolic on the talent part). It's unintelligent, uninformative about the anime industry, pic related does it better in just two episodes (and it's actually a quite fun OVA). the characters are the only thing that could save this anime, but no, they're not interesting at all. I mean what can you tell me about Tall girl?
>She's tall and quiet
>She learned the value of money when she was young
And that's pretty much it. Oh and she sleeps a lot, what an interesting quirk!!!1... What about frog girl?
>She really likes anime and is energetic
They're not appealing in any way whatsoever, you may argue that Yuasa went for a "naturalistic" characterization and this is the reason why neither of the protagonists is special, but that falls apart with the Kill la Killesque moments with the black student council president, and... what's the deal with black people in this anime? I know representation is trendy, especially with heavily westernized authors but the amount of black people in this show is quite outstanding and distracting.
I dropped the series when they went out to record some audio samples with the black girl with greenish mustard hair (one of the worst design I've ever seen) and a sequence with some amazingly terrible animation went on a loop for 3 minutes, it was so fucking bad. I would let it pass if this wasn't a show about the process of creating animation, but that felt fucking insulting. The character dynamics are unmemorable too, what can you tell me about the relationship between the tall girl and the model girl? what can you tell me about the relationship between frog girl and black with greenish mustard hair girl? God, everything was so fucking mediocre... A catchy intro though, but it gets old quite fast, just like the series itself.
