cell phones catch a lot of anger because they're probably the most prominent and recognizable facet of the technology explosion that left boomers' heads spinning. they represent the internet boomers don't understand, and the social trends boomers feel are inferior and yet resent because they've inevitably superseded their own. they remind boomers of their own ticking biological clock, and frustrate them because the world has moved on without them.
technology in general frustrates boomers because of the quality of life increase involved. the problem isnt so much that new generations are weaker, because that would be an indictment of their own parenting failures; the problem is that new generations don't care about their hardships, and when you base your sense of pride and accomplishment on how hard you had it (because you have left no legacy or contribution to the world), to be reminded that whatever hardship you faced matters very little in the grand scheme of things, especially in light of the period of historically unprecedented prosperity you experienced them in, it shakes you to your core and leaves you bitter
it's not just boomers either, you see it a lot right here on 4chan too. constant obsession with nostalgia, resentment, OLD GOOD NEW BAD, its everywhere.
