Leg curl machine is not a meme because you don't usually load the muscles in the back of your leg with conventional exercises.
Squat and Deadlift in posterior chain is a more of a glute exercise and during contraction phase doing the movement opposing to knee flexion.
IMO, there's nothing wrong with leg press if you aren't egolifting and know that it doesn't train your lower back/back in general. So hope you aren't refusing to deadlift too.
Split squats/Bulgarian SS are probably better than leg press.
So if you don't do classic squat, then:
Split squat > Machine squat(no, not the smith) > Leg Press > Leg Extensions
+ Deadlift/Romanian + Leg Curls.>>62711794>Do the leg curl machines, pushing and pulling.>pushing
