Calling out all those who tried and failed to "make it"
I started browsing bodybuilding.com
forums and /fit/ back in 2011, started lifting in 2012, now its 2020 and I quit lifting when Coronavirus gym shutdowns happens. I quit because the gym shutdown gave me time to actually sit down and think about what lifting had achieved for me over the previous 8 years, and I can say it had achieved nothing for me and that I had officially "not made it". Its been 6 months for me without any lifting, and my body doesn't even look that much worse, shocking to think I was putting all that time effort and energy (consistently, mind you) over the years to look SLIGHTLY better than I do without lifting.
Now for exercise I just do some light dumbbell work at home, and go for a run. So I guess I haven't "given up lifting" completely, but it's definitely not something I do seriously anymore or focus on in life like I had for the last 8 years before the covid shit happened.
