There's no *innate* advantage to drinking alcohol that you absolutely need.
People who glorify it's abuse are being foolish. You will pay for it. I always thought the boozers must have been the cool kids, out drinking and making sport out of it. Then I got older and they look like shit, destroy their relationships, and have pathetic stories of shitting themselves like animals. I can't imagine how that's somehow glorious and cool. And that's how a lot of dumbass alcoholics get started.
As with most things, it's acceptable in proper doses. Nothing wrong with enjoying it. However, that's always an abused principle, so I'd level it like this: if you're going to drink, 1 beer for the day (based on some papers I've read, it's the most proper amount for your body to process, least effectual, and in some cases there are health benefits to very moderate beer consumption depending on the type), two if you're celebrating. Very occasionally hard liquor. Half a glass of wine for a day, by itself.
Better to be mostly dry and occasionally have a beer kick. If you want to lose weight, you're being retarded if you think you can do it while drinking beer or soda, that should be a simple drop.
To clarify, there are some potential benefits to drinking some alcohol, mostly beer or wine. Most cheap beer has some nasty shit similar to soda, but unfiltered German wheat beer can be good for people with issues in their bowels. At least get a higher quality beer, drunken sparingly. Very light (relatively) consumption of beer or alcohol can help heart disease, some bone strength, and for antioxidants. It does and can help with stomach issues. But again, this is like half a glass of wine or a single beer. Many of the benefits will be outmoded by over-consumption.
