As for the scamcoin, there is cost attached: Wear on your harddrive, power consumption (it will rise, even if not as bad as with other coins), the fact that the coin isn't even valued yet (I think) means you can't make a decent calculation and asses your risk. The generation of the plots and proof of space is pretty slow and takes quite some power, but to be fair after it's generated that goes down a lot.
This is like mining a random new shitcoin from /biz/, unlikely to be worth it. You seem to want to do it despite that, and in that case go ahead, but be informed. It will result in more cost and unless your NAS runs on M.2 SSDs you will want to generate the plots on your main pc and move them to the NAS after the generation. With a M.2 drive, decent CPU (stock Ryzen5 5600X) it can generate around a plot of 208 GB / day with high CPU usage for that day.
