>>45015974>Units in remote places will burn out thier guns before resupply
This line of thinking is some bullshit. The issue of burning up barrels comes from extreme long range shooting where opening up your groups even a little bit makes the rifle worthless. The NGSW guns aren't for extreme range shooting, they're using those pressures to try and pierce body armor at combat distances, so groups opening up a bit is a non-issue. Since these are rifles with modern free-float barrels, realistically a gun that "burns out" in combat is just going to revert to the accuracy of something like an AK, still perfectly usable at 300 yards. Eventually you're going to have to change the barrels out but it's not like they are going to be rendered useless in combat.
For civilian long-range shooters who might be looking at a bolt gun in ".277 Fury" barrel life is a pretty big concern, but for the NGSW program it's an overstated issue.
