>>31754180>"I just don't dig having people around me all the time."
"I can understand that. I apologize if my, erm, *persistence* has been upsetting to you.">"Nah, dude. You don't seem so bad. I mean, you came to my show. Makes you pretty alright, far as I'm concerned."
"Right.">Octavia squirmed, clenching her hands in her lap>"Is that all you wanted to know?"
"I guess. Suppose I got a little carried away, didn't I?">"Uh, yeah. Kinda.">Vinyl crossed her arms behind her head, stretching out on the floor>"But hey, it happens. I thought it was kinda cool that you were so into me. Even if it was a pretty annoying."
"Hah, really?">"Yeah. I dunno, nobody's ever shown that kinda interest in me before. Normally I'm pretty okay with that, but you...">Vinyl shrugged>"I dunno. You seemed super fake on the outside. But you really cared. About me, or whatever. So that's kinda cool."
"I seemed... fake?">"A little."
"How?">Octavia felt a bit like she'd just been slapped>"I dunno. Everyone's always hanging onto everything you say and do, and you just go along with it. Seems lonely.">For a moment, Octavia started formulating a scathing rebuke>But there really wasn't one to form; Vinyl was right>At the very least, the past two weeks had been horribly lonely
"It can be lonely, I suppose.">Vinyl shrugged>"I know it ain't my business. I'm no doctor or anything. But... eh, never mind, it's stupid."
"What? No, tell me. Please.">Octavia scooted to the edge of the bed, as if pulled towards Vinyl by an invisible force>"I dunno, I was just thinking... you're some big expert at knowing everything about everyone, I get it. But does anyone know the real Octavia?">Vinyl shook her head>"That's stupid, I know. But it sounds lonely."
