"Hey.">At this point, you're used to seeing Starlight show up out of nowhere>It's half-past ten o'clock when she steps out of the portal, looking exhausted yet radiant with her violet-and-turquoise hair spilling out in curtains from beneath her favorite woolen cap>You're seated by yourself on the steps of Canterlot High, a can of sweet tea in your right hand>In years past, it would've been a beer, or one of those cheap screwdrivers you get from the gas station, the kind that taste like orange soda and benzine>Starlight doesn't even bother asking if she can join you, she just heads over and plunks down next to you with a sigh
"So? What's up?">"Eh. The usual."
"Twilight left for some kinda friendship problem?">"Pretty much. That castle's way too big to just two ponies and a dragon," Starlight says, hugging her knees against her chest
"Yeesh, I can imagine.">You guzzle the rest of her tea, crumple the can, and toss it neatly into the trash
"How are things with you and Trixie?">Starlight shrugs>"Good, I guess. She's, uh... not into me the way I'm into her."
"Oh. Fuck, Glim, I'm so sorry.">Starlight suddenly looks worried, waving her hands in front of her face while giving you an uncomfortable smile>"No, no! It's really not that big of a deal. I just misread a few signs. She just gets *really* excited about making friends. And I love --like-- that about her. Just, y'know... wish it was more."
"I know what that's like.">The words tumble out of you before you realize it
"I mean, uh...">"You do?"
"Ack. I guess so. I, uh... kinda got the wrong idea with Twilight. This world's Twilight, back when we first got to know each other.">"Whoa. I didn't know you were, uh, well... like that.">Starlight chuckles>"I'm making this so awkward, I know.">You thump your chest twice, letting out a disappointingly tiny burp
"Trust me, I don't have a problem with it. Hanging out with you is the only thing keeping me sane."
