Maybe. The thing about that series is, I'd probably actually like it (being a former Weeb) if he didn't shit so thoroughly on the canon characters.
Like, I get not liking some characters. There's a reason there's so much Blueblood abuse out there. But when you have a largely good or harmless character like Shining Armor, and you spend thousands of horsewords describing his humiliating fall from grace, one that the author and in-universe characters, outside of the OP-anime-protagonist Night Patrol members, all agree isn't right or fair... it gets really grating. There's not liking a shitty character, and then there's just getting sexual gratification from watching a good man/stallion have his life meticulously destroyed by happenstance.
Not the only one who thinks this, either. The comment section on the story is filled with people complaining about how the story keeps kicking the poor guy when he's down. I mean, at the point where I stopped reading, Shining Armor had been stripped of all rank and honor due to the Canterlot Wedding fiasco and had become a lowly private. This should have been the rock bottom of his life, and the point where the author let his skills shine through. Instead, he gets beaten to within an inch of his life and used for sport by the (say it with me) OP-anime-villain antagonists.
But, shit, if you like that stuff, go ahead. He's still updating it. And he takes the criticism well, so even though I hate his story, the author gets massive bonus points from me.
