I normally would like to keep my music projects closeted outside of my main thread, but since it’s in the middle of being actively shit up I suppose I’ll post something here in the meantime.
I’ve been trying to claw my way out of a creative rut with some new music production methodology. For the past week or so it has been nothing but fruitless 8-bar loops, so pretty much all of today I forced myself to sit down and just fill the canvas with whatever wacky stuff came to mind without stopping. It’s something like subtractive synthesis, but for a music project as a whole. This mess is the product of this effort:>https://u.smutty.horse/lyqmmacrgit.wav
Nine different snareclaps? Odd time signatures? Dissonant chord progressions? Automating unconventional FX parameters every which way? Sure, why not.
Granted, the transitions I have so far are nothing but placeholders - the various ideas I have here will probably fit better when properly arranged. I have to admit for how disparate and off-the-rails this demo sounds, it has genuine potential. Lots of cleaning up needs to be done on the theory, arrangement as well as the mixing in particular, and of course I have to decide on a direction for the track to make it pony-related. Fuck it, might sample Ponies in Hats a bunch in the breakdown just for the fun of it.
