I'm gonna be honest, I'm a zoomer and the older albums I listen to are all highly complex and nuanced. From the 70s all the way to the early 90s it seems like even the most lowbrow cockrock albums have a musicality and cleverness that kills anything modern. At first I thought it was sloppy playing but then I began noticing the pattern and it hit me that I'm just not smart on par with their contemporary audiences, even though I was top of my HS class. Thoughts?

Music nerds praising a mainstream pop album used to happened only once per decade; now it seems that every year there's a new pop record to glaze, does this signal that pop music are getting better or music nerds are having worse tastes?
