/mu/tants, I'd like your opinion on this.
I want to leave my magnus opum before I commit sudoku, it's a concept album about drug abuse, addiction, depression, sarcasm, irony and suicide. I'm halfway through already, already wrote all the lyrics, already recorded half the songs, already have all the compositions in my head. I have to admit my music is decent at most, I only have a compilation album of my early music when I was 19-20, and I recently released an EP as an experiment which has lots of errors. I want my next album to be of good quality because it will probably be my last.
My predicament is, I am going to add a cover of Spiritualized, "Broken Heart" to be more specific, because its theme fit between one of my songs. Now I realize Lou's Reed Perfect Day also fits between one of my songs because of its theme. I'd be having two cover songs in my "magnus opum". Do you think this is a bad idea, or should I not give a fuck?
The song list and concept would be something like this:
>1. Random instrumental song from my EP
>2. Song about the pleasure of drugs
>3. Broken heart (spiritualized cover)
>4. Song about overdosing on drugs
>5. Song about the psych ward
>6. Song about rehab
>7. Song about sobriety
>8. Song about relapsing back to drug use
>9. Perfect day (Lou's Reed Cover)
>10. Sarcastic song about how loving life is
My shit is heavily inspired by Spacemen 3, Velvet Underground and Lou Reed's Transformer, plus early post-rock like Labradford.
