well considering they're all drummers they damn well better be.
i'd find it hard to argue that this puts haim above any of their contemporaries, though. rhythm is the foundation of music. it is literally base. i think what they DO with rhythm makes them more interesting than the shitty house pop we hear on top 40. i also think it calls to a primitive form of mind, but so does a lot of pop music.
i'm ambivalent, is what i'm trying to say, i guess.
but you can tell just listening to their music how fused into their musical DNA drumming is. danielle plays guitar like a drummer. it's sort of how elton john played the piano as if it were a percussion instrument.>inb4 rhythm guitar blah blah blah
it's different when blended with all the other rhythm-centric layers in their music.
