The good men who do it for free, as tradition has it with Fuuka Archivers. There will be no ads ever, just like any 4chan archiver.
We are currently donating servers for these guys to make their search backend work, and free more space for other boards.
However, without further funding, high volume boards will be iffy to archive.
4chanarchive.cu.cc (For Profit)
The pragmatist. It has ads. It has pretty sleazy ads. Remember these ads are the only thing that anything labeled "4chan" on it will get.
However, the ads give him the ability to survive, and thrive. They give him motivation and infrastructure to take on more boards, and possibly archive the same or more boards than Archive.moe.
4chanarchive.cu.cc would take on every porn board, /b/, /v/, anything that brings in viewers.
Now, we don't like ads any more than you do. But I'm thinking as a pragmatist. Privatization supercharges things.
So there is an escape valve:
We could allow people who make donations to remove ads, akin to a Pass. Or we could use less iffy ads, and rely on volume of users. Will this be acceptable?
