So a bit of an update on what I'm adding:

It'll describe what the world is like in short. Like the fact that there's a bunch of things that might want you out of the picture, what the situation is in the world (read: Shit's going down), etc.
A few items are getting re-worked. Saxaboom, originally a "mystery box" item, but since people didn't like that and it's a "regular" choice, I'm gonna reduce the charm chance on it. Probably 50-60%.
Item damage encourages power gaming a bit too much, so I think I'm gonna remove it. I may have a compromise by adding something like "Light Damage", "Moderate Damage", and "Heavy Damage". Maybe. I'm thinking about it.
There's gonna be new items, many with either out-of-combat uses or alternate uses. A bit of a taste (feedback/ideas are appreciated!) of what that means:
"Allows access to a large network of old and decrepit ruins. These ruins have varying levels of danger, but most hide secrets and treasures that could prove invaluable to you...should you live to uncover them."
+2 CHA (maybe -1 POW)
"This shiny little badge gives you the confidence and skill to talk your way through any number or situations. However, effects won't work when in proximity to violence.
"These sandals don't offer much protection, but when worn, you feel light as a feather and as fast as...something really fast."
...thinking about also making the effect diminished for combat, but I dunno. I think I wanna stress a more utilitarian use, rather than a combat one.
...but yeah. Things are happening, however slow.
