Why does Kangaroo not have a sequel?

No.7850484 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
It was a popular arcade game that sold well and was well received by players, got released on the Atari 8-bit family of computers, the Atari 2600, and 5200. (It's a crime that it was never released on the 7800, which would have been a perfect fit.)
It even got its own Saturday morning cartoon show, so what gives on no sequel?
The arcade game itself has been released on the PS4 and Switch too, so it's just weird that there's no sequel that I can find or even any discussion of it.

The game itself is easier than Donkey Kong, the game it's meant to compete against, yet is still pretty tough, although I prefer it, maybe because it hasn't been run into the ground.

tl;dr great popular game fell off the face of the Earth for a while, why no sequel?
