PUNISHER STORYTIME
All this year I'll be storytiming Punisher comics. Mostly pre-Ennis era stuff. Expect at least 1 storytime per week.
Last week I posted the lone "event" in Punisher comics history, Suicide Run. If you really want to read that it's still in the archives here: >>96129182 and here: >>96133393
After Suicide Run Steven Grant, who had been writing The Punisher main series off and on for a few months at that point, was moved over to The Punisher War Journal for close to a year. His run on that title would also serve as a kind of "unofficial sequel" to Suicide Run and would largely focus on that aftermath of that "event"/story.
Grant's War Journal is basically separated into 2 parts. The 1st mostly deals with the immediately consequences of Suicide Run, but also features some several returning characters from Suicide Run along with new characters. And in keeping with War Journal's comparatively heavier focus on the rest of the Marvel Universe (compared to the other Punisher ongoings) both Captain America and Spider-Man play major roles in this story arc.
The 2nd half of Grant's War Journal focuses more on (the surviving) supporting characters from Suicide Run, but we'll only be reading the 1st part in this thread because I just don't have time to post the next one today.
However, what that means is that if you want to read all of the backup feature from these issues, which does not conclude in these issues, then make sure you're here tomorrow when I'll be posting the next War Journal arc along with the conclusion to this storytime's backup feature.
So with that all out of the way, let's get straight into reading about The Punisher's next encounter with V.I.G.I.L., Captain America, and Spider-Man, plus a few returning characters from Suicide Run as well as some brand new faces.
