If they can connect the dots then they can ID his preferences. But good luck having the PD drip feed that info to us, but 99% conviction rates mean there's a possibility they would want to get the public against this guy.
For the longest time yesterday anons were saying that y/u/rifags were insane yurishitters, to be specific he was a shipper and when his ship didn't become real (I don't remember which girls he shipped) he cracked. I couldn't believe it. Then an alternate hypothesis came around where it was actually a /y/aoifag who believed that his ideas were plagiarized when Free! was made.
Either way both of these lead us to the same conclusion, that those with "specific" tastes can be way more violent than those who like straight partner pairings.
The only hypothesis where this attacker might possibly be straight, not for certain though, is if he was a train otaku. Then we can all agree that he's in that voluntarily celibate area. Because he decided to become trash willingly. But it seems from what I'm reading right now that this theory's fallen out of favor or something.
A crazier and more political motive has also come out where some think he was a Zainichi. It means Korean or part-Korean in Japanese soil I think. So this could be bloody if this were the truth. Especially since Korea is an outsource hub for a lot of anime. Its like an act of war if so.
