>>222547898Oh yeah, I remember how it was Berserk and .hack//Sign that both blew my mind for the themes they dealt with and the MCs they had.
Before that I only knew those heroes that were made so that the typical happy and super-social normalfag could relate to them and I basically grew up without ever feeling it with the exception of maybe three movies or something. And then I found these series that actually dealt with depressions in very different ways, as well as MCs that do not want or cannot socialize and have reasons for doing so, or at least a past that never taught them how to live a normal life.
It was like a revelation to me. At that point I stopped watching live action almost completely and I was too busy with the tons of manga and anime I had.
Welp. Now Miura is dead as well as the Bee Train studio, Mashimo disappeared, lots of people died in these last two decades, the few friends I had went away, web 1.0 is gone and replaced by instagram and clones, Bastard!! is dead too, Satoshi Kon is gone and even the rebuild of NGE has ended now and I miss those times when /a/ felt more like a community. Like now. But this is an exception. We don't really get phenomenons like those during TTGL and CG anymore.
