>>222618340>Most reasonable conclusion is that he was trying to sound impressive.Or maybe you are not considering the fact that there's a lot more to it than just drawing, the dude wanted to bring a conclusion to the story he probably started to do more planning around the chapters instead of winging it like he used to do when he was younger.
>>222618419If I had to say, it's probably what I said above, the fact that he started to put more detail into his drawings as time progressed, and the fact that he started to take the story to more "creative" places and introduced more characters and creatures.
Miura's world kept expanding and with it individual character studies (pic related shows a little of that), armor and sword studies (again pic related), the fact that he was more focused on training his assistants in his last years didn't help, the One Shot hiatus (from where he had to create a whole new world and characters, with the same process of character design, armor design, sword design, environment design, etc).
The character designs he did for the movies and tv series that came out in the 2010s
Miura had a large collection of books for reference, and he probably studied from them regularly, probably daily (like any other artist does).
Every artists, it doesn't matter how high you are in terms of skill set has to study everything again, and again, and again, or else you start to forget things.
I think that having to simply draw a manga with the designs and story given to you is already an overwhelming job, but Miura did that and much more.
