Looks like steam release might've had now-resolved porting issues, but the games ARE very focused on visceral, responsive, reactive movements, so you'll want a version that runs smoothly.
Alternatively, though, you can just get a GBA or DS emulator and boot them that way; no real need to pay for them on PC, seeing as you'll get savestate and other QOL features in emulation just as much as in the rerelease. Lets you demo them, too, to see if they'd be your speed; mind, though, they do play way more dynamically than any other Megaman series, and also differ in having a cohesive, self-contained, fully realized narrative throughline... hence reccing it here.
