>>273763367>>273763565>>273765406>Heh, you won't "pay" me for living in MY "property"? Then "you" will "be" "me"!Bad "timing" considering the thread is already almost archived - my bad, genuinely - but it's actually not that demanding when all you're doing to earn money as a landlord, is force people to pay you for existing in a house you don't use.
Those people that need to pay you have basically no control over how much they need to pay in order to have shelter at all (rent can suddenly just skyrocket with little rhyme or reason and rarely, if ever, goes back down) AND could find themselves suddenly homeless for whatever minor reason (slow at putting the clothes away while doing laundry? That causes water damage to the walls, get permanently blacklisted).
This has the side effect of incentivising greater aggression in those that are more aware of the dynamics at play, regardless of whether or not their specific methods of acting out are reasonable. The power dynamic is clearly skewed in favour of the landlord.
Workers can find themselves working overtime for whatever ridiculous, petty reason, and if being a landlord is just like the other jobs, then just do the overtime and earn your money's worth like the rest of us working class fellows. Especially when it's not actually overtime because those renters are kind of still using your services, and especially when the ball is in your court, not theirs.
If you're hanging on a branch over a cliff, and the guy lending a helping hand wants you to give him your wallet first before he pulls you up, spitting on him is understandable.
