Just marathoned the whole thing and well, it was pretty shit.
First season dragged way too long and ending was such a shit. OVA was alright.
Second season felt under developed. I never cared or got attached to any character. A blend experience. Both girls were shit. Although from the beginning it was obvious who would win. And only retards would delude themselves into thinking otherwise. Overall, the whole Aquarion series is shit. It's blend, unimaginative, boring and unless you really, really are into Kanno Yoko music, which was fantastic, there is no real reason to watch this turd. It's a mismatch of poorly written romance and mecha, often cringe worthy.

Actually, EVOL's theme (and to a lesser stated extent, Genesis's) as stated by Amata and Zessica is that what was important was now, not what happened 12,000 years ago. When Kawamori started talking about the divine and the profane, that was about the inspiration for Paradoxical Zoo and there was no indication about Pollon. We still thought it was about Apollonius and Celiane.

Unfortunately, seeing how the thematic stuff lines up with romance, we see Amata going after a girl who at every opportunity tries to find out what happens in the past and make up for stuff that isn't her fault (apologies to Kagura/Pollon, Mikage). It doesn't really match and it grates on the audience when they also see a girl who tries to do everything yet isn't allowed to get herself out of the pit of suffering that the writers have consigned her to.

i think the whole autism thing is bad. i mean people misunderstand the disorder and they seem to forget that you'll never find 2 guys with autism that act the same that's why it's such a delicate subject because you just can't say: " this guy has autism cuz he has an obsession revolving around trains." because it can also be ocd. autism is just a disorder caused by fluctuations in the development of the human brain like the lobe that regulates social interaction can be really weak whereas the lobe that analyses stuff is overpowered so to speak, this results in a less then sociable person with incredible skills in debugging software or so.

To be honest, I think that's the point. The story that was supposed to be about Mythos and Rue ends up becoming about Duck and Fakir, because of the characters defying their fate. Duck and Fakir ultimately become the protagonists, and the characters who we actually end up caring about.
