I can't seem to get into Macross. I had a hard time looking for the Japanese version of the first Macross and end up with Robotech. The English was average at best and it feels like it was massively edited.

I then jumped to Macross 7. Can't say I liked the first episode. Also, for a first episode, it's riddled with recycled footage.

In the end I watched Macross: Do you Remember Love and I loved it. After that I jumped to the OVAs namely Macross Plus and Zero. My first full series is Macross Frontier.

2. Start with the originals (0079 & Macross), unless you're not used to the datedness of the shows. 8th MS Team would be a good introductory if that's the case. Or watch the 0079 movie trilogy if you want a quick intro while skipping a lot of the details and development given by the series.
