After the failure of the 1st War, Zouken wanted to help the Einzberns reclaim back their lost magic so Illya's ancestor's sacrifice wouldn't have been in vain.

However, after a hundred or so years, Zouken has forgot about this desire of his and instead has replaced this desire to help the Einzberns with a desire to selfishly live forever.

Adapting to pain can take a while if you're new to lifting, but normally lat pull downs shouldn't hurt your palms.
Unless the bar is covered in spikes and you're trying to pull 100kg++

Try pulling down by hooking the segments of your fingers to the bar, instead of fully closing your hands, and tightly grasping it.

That's a good way to avoid calluses.

Grip the bar tighter and use older bars whose knurling has been worn down.

A brand new barbell WILL fuck your hands up if you're new like me.

Also on deadlifts don't grip the bar near the thumb pillow, grip it near the finger bases so the skin between finger and palm won't curl up under the weight of the bar.
