For me, I never had that problem. I was honest and confident with what I did. "I played World of Warcraft and masturbated all day. It was a blast!".
I think, so long as you appear normal, they won't care what you do with your life. I mean, I have a daki, and a load of lewd anime figures. I've never had problems keeping people from giving me shit. "This daki is soft, and cuddly as fuck, mum! Here, have a feel! Fantastic, right? The art is just there because it's kind of cool, I suppose!"
Stop caring. That's what I did. Before I was a NEET, I wanted people to like me. After being a NEET, all I cared about was my World of Warcraft character, and then my waifu after I found her (she found me). If you stop giving a shit, the confidence will come naturally, and make you a more likable person.
All of those "friends" I made seemed to really care about their relationship with me. I didn't. And for some reason, that made them take a likening to me.
