No matter how many anime I watch, old classics or modern releases, I can never reach the same type of enjoyement, immersion and happiness that I did when I watched these three shows as a 14 year old. And I just don't understand why.

Why's anime so full of Japanese exceptionalism?
Everything related to Japan is always depicted as the best shit in the world and whenever someone from the outside is exposed to something Japanese they're always shown to be thoroughly impressed, be it food or whatever else.
It also feels like many authors are pretty ignorant of the rest of the world, with settings that are outside of Japan featuring people either engaging in inappropriately Japanese customs and behaviours or being depicted through some very strange stereotypes that have little resemblance to the real thing.
