So I just started reading Fairy Tail, and um... What's the deal with all the fanservice? Like, why is there so much of it? I guess the girls can be kinda hot, but the problem is that nobody would wear a mini skirt and push-up bra in real life when preparing for a major fight.
There's also the scenes where it's clear the author WANTS the reader to notice the blatant cleavage/panty shots but where fanservice detracts from the epicness of the moment. I just don't get it.
I started watching this two days ago because everyone here is saying "it's so great" and it's rated quite high on several anime websites. Watched all the previews, then the first three episodes.
It's lazily drawn, the dudes don't have any personality whatsoever. It has no plot. Soundtrack is generic. It's 4-koma style jokes. Now i can look past that, since I enjoyed Cromartie High School and the first half of Nichijou, but the jokes in this anime just aren't funny. How often has someone made fun of running with toast in their mouth? Even people on /a/ make this thread on a daily basis. Boring crossdressing fanservice joke? Check. RPG joke? Check. Jokes about otakus? Check etc.
Nothing original. Now being original is kinda hard, not many comedies can do that, but then at least make the jokes work. It's just boring and I can't imagine anyone enjoying this show unless they pick a guy as their "husbando" or something because they are lonely as fuck.
Just be honest about it. I openly admit that High School DxDx is complete utter shit, but I watch it for the harem. Daily Lives of High School Boys fans should do so too.
So let's try saying it together: "Daily Lives of High School Boys is shit".
Feeling ever so lucky for being a polyglot, you wave off the discovery that may have otherwise been a disaster. "Oh, that's just some history stuff I need to memorize. Would you care for some tea?" "Sure." Hisao replies. You set about preparing it while Hisao himself remains abnormally quiet. After you hand him his cup and saucer, he breaks it. "You know - that was nice, today." "I thought so, too, Hisao." He chuckles a bit - the first time you've actually heard him laugh, even if it does lack passion, it's a very nice change. "Really, I mean it. After everything that happened, leaving my old life, finding out about my heart, languishing in the hospital for a third of the year, getting transferred here... I've honestly felt overwhelmed." You remain silent, appreciating that it finally seems like he's able to talk to you. "It was nice, today, with you. I actually felt relaxed for the first time since... I can't even remember." He pauses for a moment; you realize the weight of what he’s saying. Something as simple as today – heading out to shop for a friend’s birthday… It’s probably the most normal thing he’s done since his incident.
[] "Would you like to do it again sometime?” [] Ask him about what happened at the beginning with his heart trouble.
I like anime with a lot of focus on technology (instead of it just being a prop) but I find it hard to come by (besides the giant robot genre). I've seen Lain and Dennou Coil. What others are there that I should see?
