How is a grown man deciding to prioritise his actual job over his hobby from several decades ago disrespectful? When the manga adaptation is bad, you don't focus on the source material. The adaptation being bad is entirely on the adaptation itself.
Do not conflate ONE being Murata's enabler with ONE's work on the webcomic.

The anime has made more money than the manga ever could have, and is directly responsible for the manga making more money as well.

The issue with this theory is that there is an important distinction between Suiryu being "completely different" (i.e the same character who never underwent the humiliation ritual in the manga original tournament arc) and Ryumon being portrayed totally differently even though he was established in the webcomic as a character long before he appeared in the manga.

The central point of this reply, if I am interpreting it correctly, is strange. Nobody in this thread is calling Murata lazy - if anything, he needs to learn how to reduce his workload on OPM. Criticisms about the manga are not about a lack of effort, they are about another factor entirely:
How many of those chapters can I trust will not be redrawn?
People are frustrated that they cannot trust the manga. Any of those manga chapters can be undone at any time, forget that they are frankly of worse quality than older manga chapters. Never mind startled, how can people even be invested in the manga, the same way they are invested in the webcomic?

Under that framing, Murata's rate of producing chapters plummets below that of other biweekly or even monthly mangaka. No author says they have published six books simply because five of them are rough drafts they posted online.

I only read the manga up to, like, the beginning of the trip to Kyoto but I get it, while ultimately a series can't get by with a single character and occasional appearances from her single friend the first half before that is still more entertaining. I don't know how the manga handles it but I can at least relate to finding friends among other weirdos thanks to circumstance. I feel like Tomoko would find Neptune an annoying stacy tho lol.

I do yeah. But I skip the parts where Tomoko isn't the focus which is quite a lot.

Funnily I think the best part the kyoto trip and right after it. When she just has a small group of misfits as friends. After that they added way too many characters though and it completely lost its identity
