How come Goten and Trunks don't have the same potential as Gohan? The only explanation for Gohan getting all his asspulls like blanco is that he's a half-saiyan, so it stands to reason that both Trunks versions and Goten should be just as capable.
Is it because of rage then? If so, why did Future Gohan just end up shit out of luck? Was he really just not mad enough that everyone he knew and loved was dead? It took a literal who android dying for present Gohan to snap. What happened for Future Gohan?

The difference is they knocked each other out in GT, but Goku got back up first and even while running on empty never powered down and could still hold his own against Baby.

They do. They were Frieza level fighters as 7 year olds. They've just not been given a chance to shine nor a fight they can be helpful in. They have kept up their training and haven't fallen too far behind everyone else.
Their time will come.

Poetry rymes but it's different. Different things happen but there are echoes of things yet to come. Toriyama is a genius. I think he surpassed Lucas personally and I loved his 6 films. Toriyama and Lucas both tell beautiful stories using their worlds told like poems. They will be remembered for all of human time for their writing skills.

It's because of the fundamentals of ki. There are 3 parts to ki, Yuki(Courage or Bravery), Shoki(Right-Mindedness) and Genki(Energy). Future Gohan was brave and had vigour but he was not right of mind. He had a defeatist attitude and basically had no hope in himself beating the androids.
Also he doesn't know how to properly train, his father never trained him in his timeline.

GTbro here, I actually feel insulted by Daima's existence. Everything about it is a hollow rushed trace of the first arc with none of the charm. Even the SS4 debut doesn't land or feel like it's meant to evoke the same feeling as seeing it for the first time in the fight against Baby.
