>>172146014The characters were paper thin having singular shallow motivations with, except for homura, uninteresting character arcs and were more like signpost for the progression of the plot. All of their character development came about at the hands of plot twists and because the series ended in a deus ex machina even that development was thrown out because the entire structure of the series was built around Madoka wishing it all away.
I'm just glad Rebellion came along to fix most of this.
