But as I mentioned, this is prior to continental philosophy, and is more metaphysical (seeing as how it’s largely influenced by Transcendental Idealism, and Schopenhauer) than your typical Camus, Kierkegaard or Sartre text. Given the nature of Mainlander’s iconoclasm of Schopenhauer’s singular will to something more “individual” and subsuming that into his own dialectic. So in a sense, it’s both the “aesthetic side” and the metaphysical noetic aspect you spoke of, coalesced, this could also apply to Schopenhauer actually, however, he’s irrelevant here since he didn’t kill himself.
