Entire Greek myths alone are filled with God fuckery, like the 12 Labours of Heracles where at the behest of Apollo, Heracles went on a 12 year long monster hunt to atone after Hera had driven him mad to the point he killed his own wife and kids.
Jason also got toyed with by the Gods, and Odysseus's crew fucking drowned in a thunderstorm because Helios tattled on them to Zeus for killing his sacred cattle and threatened to take the sun and leave if Zeus didn't punish them. Literally tabletop "That Guy" tier.
It's not farfetched or retarded to base your fictional world's pantheon on a bunch of fucks playing DnD campaigns as worldbuilding if you want your Gods to be actual Gods it also explains why the world doesn't evolve beyond fantasy middle ages when there's Gods actively fucking mortals over for entertainment.
