Sayaka clings to bizarre ideals and goes off the rails really often, and Madoka has some deeply rooted self confidence issues, in addition to having almost no ability to desire anything for herself. Mami is an emotional breakdown waiting to happen, and Nagisa is autistic. Akuma isn't really nutty but she is emotionally unstable and delusional about herself and the world around her, plus extremely chuuni. Kyouko is just realistic.
