I know where those came from. As a reader of the series, I don't need to be told obvious facts, and so, must scan the pages for their art after reading for small tidbits of detail like this to deduct traits. That's what sets One Piece from dumb shit like Bleach or Naburoto. The details that build the world as whole are obtained from being familiar with the One Piece universe and story. One Piece "feels" like One Piece and has kept "feeling" like One Piece since chapter 1. There is no bullshit power ups, no power of friendship, no one dimensional evil villains.
Just hard work, tears, sweat and blood.
