Just finished watching Akame Ga Kill.
Awesome fights, good characters and plot, but the ending was too bad.

Nah, not initially at least. See, this shit started out just fine, and a shift to Esdeath somewhere through the middle was really good. Fucking good. Too bad they dropped it already an episode later. That's the mistake. Having a switch from the "good" side to the "evil" side, that's interesting. Too bad the writer of this had no balls to go through with it. Neither did the faggot MC.

If we're doing a reboot, Seryuu should join Night Raid halfway through the show and go full Reign of Terror on the corrupt elements within the capital. I'm thinking ministers with their heads on pikes with "traitor", "corrupt" or "evil" carved into their foreheads. It would actually drive the whole "grey morality" theme the author tried but failed to implement home.

In some ways I like the anime better than the manga. Anime cursed Akame overpowered Esdeath, but it's the reverse in the manga. Kurome get's a different ending and Tatsumi actually bangs Mine.

Still I liked it enough to buy the entire manga series. There's a prequel series Akame ga Kill Zero about her time being on the Empire's side, and a sequel after this series called Hinowa ga Yuku. Both are still ongoing and worth checking out.

That was already foreshadowed though. Remember what Najenda claimed would be needed to defeat Esdeath? 10,000 soldiers, including at least 10 teigu users. That is thrown out of the window in the anime's ending, where there's a one on one duel that ends in "muh afterimage" somehow overcoming a time stop.

Takahiro explicitly referred to him as the B character to Tatsumi's A character. He also had Najenda literally call Night Raid's training in the wild "leveling up". What an autist.

I agree that telling the story from Wave's perspective would be much more interesting (except for the bait and switch first episode. I love it when that happens. Goblin Slayer did it this season).

While it is cliché to say "the manga was better," this differences between this show and the manga is why that statement still has value.

I actually have a feeling that the manga ending being different was the result of the negative reaction to anime ending. Though with the fact Mine and Tatsumi were already couple i might be wrong but still.
