The second season was a fucking mess the way they made the final confruntration with emperor Charles was shit,heck the only good thing that cam out of the second season was the ending.
This series was carried by the hype of the first season and they fucked the second one up because sunrise thought it will flop and did not plan more seasons.
The second season should've been two separate 24 episodes seasons,it all felt rushed and crammed in.
I have zero hopes for the third season since i suspect it will be made to milk the franchise,also the movies were shit and i hated cg mechas.

Honestly the more I think about it the more I suspect it's metaphorical and/or the main plan of someone in the movie is to bring back the threat of Lelouch as a dictator.

It's not like Lelouch is the only option where saving him is concerned. Sure it would be a nice call back but there are plenty of other option that would still let the movie earn the name fukkatsu no Lelouch.
Like a Geass that allows its user to borrow someone else's appearance.

I personally hate the Chinaman. It is kinda worthless that he didn't die from his illness or had it play out in any meaningful way.
Also Lelouch fucked up too little in S2. It was a rather disappointing thing.
