>>182639651I rewatched Five Star Stories after many years. It's a shame that the plot gets kind of contrived and inscrutable at the end, but I actually found that the time spent with everyone subtly making a low key play against the rogue baron and his plan to keep the fatima's himself, without just going in gun's a blazing from the get go, was a really nice bit of political worldbuilding without boring exposition. The gaudy and hyper elegant art style and design work alone made it great anyways, I found the whole thing gorgeous.
I also watched the first episode of Crest of the Stars, a tad ugly, but I found the whole thing quite immersive and interesting, with some interesting shot composition and good pacing to build the tension of the initial conflict. I was a bit disappointed that it seemed like the next episode was going to involve the MC doing into some high school esq setting, but I may check out more.
