-Watched Me gumi no Daigo. It was terrible. Basically shounenshit with firefighters.
-Watched California Crisis. Was terrible as well.
-Finally watched Okonjoururi. Was pretty enjoyable all things considered. The backgrounds were especially pretty. Can't say I liked it as much as Kawamoto's works but the animation really was stellar.
-Watched Popolocrois Monogatari and dropped it after 8 or so episodes. Had some good animation at times but ultimately felt like some extremely generic fanatasy tale.
-Watched Twilight Q. First episode was OK, second episode was 'OK'. Not sure what to make of this. Hard for me to pinpoint whether I liked to disliked it. Wasn't offensively bad at least.
-Watched Kumo no You ni Kaze no You ni. Forgettable because of being way too predictable to be honest.

Think that's it for the pre2000s stuff I've recently watched. Can't say I am sure why I still bother.

The novel Bloodlust was based on, Demon Deathchase, was terrible. It was entertaining, but terrible. But it was interesting on it's own, that and the OP Marcus brothers were way different than the movie Marcus brothers.

I had to watch it a couple times and read the book to really understand it. The most confusing part is when they get to the blood chick's castle. She just kind of comes out of nowhere.
I personally prefer the original though. It's a shame there were never any more adaptations of the books, there are over 40 volumes I believe.

Just finished HnK and Shin Hokuto no Ken. What a wild ride. There are some spinoff movies that are somewhat recent but I'm not sure I'm interested in them.

I rewatched Five Star Stories after many years. It's a shame that the plot gets kind of contrived and inscrutable at the end, but I actually found that the time spent with everyone subtly making a low key play against the rogue baron and his plan to keep the fatima's himself, without just going in gun's a blazing from the get go, was a really nice bit of political worldbuilding without boring exposition. The gaudy and hyper elegant art style and design work alone made it great anyways, I found the whole thing gorgeous.

I also watched the first episode of Crest of the Stars, a tad ugly, but I found the whole thing quite immersive and interesting, with some interesting shot composition and good pacing to build the tension of the initial conflict. I was a bit disappointed that it seemed like the next episode was going to involve the MC doing into some high school esq setting, but I may check out more.

The second half is when the plot kicks off and it gets really good in my opinion. The first half is just there to get you caring about the characters through some shenanigans before they throw them into the deep end.
