Going with friends is generally more fun and you're able to comment the cool things you see and do in real time, but at the same time going with other people means that you will probably have to compromise certain activities, or spend less time doing things you enjoy. Even if you go with friends who enjoy anime they might not be up to for example spend 4+ hours on Akihabara fishing for merch and playing arcade games.
Going alone means that you do what you want whenever you want, you control your schedules and time, but lose the fun of commeting and exploring stuff together.
Also getting friends to do such an expensive trip might me hard, so not finding anybody to go shouldn't deter anyone from going. I enjoyed my time alone as much as my time with friends, its just two different experiences.
