I'm 18. I've never indulged in either. I really can't get into old shows. I've been spoiled the plot of Evangelion and Berserk by the fans, so there's no point in my even bothering with them. The only exception is Ashita no Joe which I liked even though it was a struggle for me to get over the old animation. I tried to watch Fist of the North Star but couldn't even make it past the first episode. My eyes didn't like the animation and I thought the kungfu shit was lame. I thought Kenshiro seemed like a badass but he was letting out high pitched squeals when he punched. And he was just decimating everybody in front of him on the first episode without even breaking a sweat. I watched Diebuster because I liked the backgrounds of space in it, but it turned out to not be as aesthetic as I thought it would be. Didn't like it very much and was bored by it. I watched Akira, and while I liked the animation of it I was bored to death by it.

I think that's all the shows I've seen made before 2010.

Berserk is garbage outside of the Golden Age arc, and even within that arc there are some low lows. Evangelion at its worst (Magma Diver) still has some interesting storyboards and good economy of scenes. It’s not even a competition desu.
