>>213580878Every so often somebody asks me if they should watch Evangelion, and it's important they receive an honest answer. That soulful '90s animation? Disguising an Eldritch Horror anime as a Mecha anime? Hot-dropping a German ginger? These are blessings.
Unfortunately, that's not enough to prevent Hideaki's Evangelion from being a vapid sequence of disappointments spearheaded by characters whose complexity only arises from the vacuous decisions they make. Look no further than the lead character, Shinji 'Daddy Issues' Ikari and you'll understand how this regrettably iconic anime has transformed Japan into a nation of shut-ins and Incels. Shinji's accomplishments include running away from opportunities to easily save thousands of innocent lives, sexually assaulting children while they sleep, and choking skinny teenage girls. Role model? And then Gendo (Father of the Year?) can't stop grooming the women working under him, starting with Yui (killed herself), then Naoko (killed herself after taking out one of Gendo's weird wife-daughter clones), and finally Naoko's daughter Ritsuko (also dead, good one Gendo). How all of these babe scientists were sexually attracted to a man resembling Abraham Lincoln's left testicle is a Japanese mystery.
This weird kid from school (Carl) LOVED Evangelion and obsessed over Evangelion for years. Where is Carl these days? I'll always know because as a sex offender he now has to register his address with the state every three months. Fucking Carl. Anyway... Evangelion? No. It's EvINCELion, and you should stay away unless you want to end up like Carl.
